R Gors And Kallmann Piano Serial Numbers

R Gors And Kallmann Piano Serial Numbers 6,0/10 416 votes

I have a Gors & Kallmann upright piano with serial #60631 (which tells me it was built 1921 - 1930). The condition of the piano is very good. Can anyone tell me the approximate value of this piano? Apr 05, 2011  I would like to know how much the value of the R Gors @ Kallmann upright piano. How old it is? Serial number: 51885 Also.

Mark Goodwin may be able to give you some very rough prices, but this may reflect on the overall tuning stability. When was the piano last tuned? Is the piano at concert pitch?

Year and serial number 1910 88000 Comments WE RESTORE SELECTED MODELS OF GORS AND KALLMANN PIANOS. Older Gors and Kallmann uprights from about 1890 to 1910 are overstrung overdampers but have a good tone. Those made from about 1910 to 1930 are underdampers (see piano makes page for explanation) and can be exceptional.

In this case, you will have to download the files individually. Windows (You would have the opportunity to download individual files on the 'Thank you for downloading' page after completing your download.) • Files larger than 1 GB may take much longer to download and might not download correctly. If you do not have a download manager installed, and still want to download the file(s) you've chosen, please note: • You may not be able to download multiple files at the same time. • You might not be able to pause the active downloads or resume downloads that have failed.

Thanks for the info Colin. I will probably be selling privately or to the trade. I intend to get a professional piano tuner to come and tune and do whatever is needed to bring the piano to concert pitch. The last tuner who did this for me in Israel, told me that the piano could be brought to concert pitch. What I am trying to establish is the approximate worth of the piano, as that will determine how much money it is worth spending getting it up to concert pitch. Like with selling an old car - do you spend the money to safety it before selling or do you sell it as is and take a drop in price?

Details of Gors & Kallmann Pianos- Make Gors & Kallmann Made in Germany. Some modern pianos (post 1990) made in the Far East also have the Gors and Kallmann name.

Hello, I just purchased my very first piano - a G&K over-strung over-damper model. There are large numbers stamped (25450) on the top left inside the piano which might be the casing number? On the right is another little paper sticker with 6904 and cox s underneath. I have checked various other websites but they only start the numbering from 40000 in 1908. Please if anyone has different resources to discover the age I would be very interested to know - is it a pre-1900 perhaps?

Data may only return a broad date range and/or come with two considerations affecting reliability. ★★☆☆☆ Much less Accurate & Reliable.

Hi Claire, Thanks for the photos. Do have any idea how you want to sell the piano?

Like with selling an old car - do you spend the money to safety it before selling or do you sell it as is and take a drop in price? I guess a professional tuner and restorer would be able to tell me that. Thanks again.

Originally established in 1877 in Berlin the Gors and Kallmann name has always been synonymous with large, traditionally styled upright pianos with a rich tonality and a characteristic deep, sonorous bass response, the kind of bass response you simply won't find in a smaller console type piano, which is why they never made one - it just wouldn't be a Gors and Kallmann. The current Gors and Kallmann range are designed to be redolant of those earlier pianos from the so called 'golden age' of piano building. Comprising of the Concerto (120cm) upright, the Bauhaus (121cm) upright, the Professional (127cm) upright and the Berlin Conservatoire grand (168cm). All feature slow close fall mechanism. All models incorporate solid spruce soundboards, Japanese Imadegawas hammers, German steel and copper strings, rock maple action parts and a 22 ply German Wrestplank by Deutsche Holz Verelung.

★☆☆☆☆ Inaccurate & Unreliable. Data has not been confirmed or has several inconsistencies that produce unreliable results. Due to the vast number of Pianos manufactured over the past 150 years, we’ve limited our selection to well-known Brands with clear data available from multiple sources.

So you are looking at a 90 year old piano. Although it looks OK, the casework & general appearance is very out-dated and there seems to have been alot of sunlight on the piano? Hence the fallboard (inside with name on) is much darker. Or is the flash photography? When you say. 'It just needs tuning'.

Would you buy it? An old vintage car with a spluttering/ coughing/ hit n miss engine will not sell very well!! Have a look on eBay to get an idea of prices, but we can't give a value here on this forum. Mark Goodwin may be able to give you some very rough prices, but this may reflect on the overall tuning stability. When was the piano last tuned?

Sell to the trade The serial number suggests 1921-1922 (not 1930 ish). So you are looking at a 90 year old piano. Although it looks OK, the casework & general appearance is very out-dated and there seems to have been alot of sunlight on the piano?

If it is a Valentine with the case rubbers intact and made in Barcelona with the little instructions sheets it may be worth as much as $350 US. They are quite keenly sought by collectors now although at the time of manufacture 1969 they were a very slow seller due to the radical design and colour. Olivetti made a second manufacturing run made in Mexico in the 1990's and these also failed to ignite the buyers. A machine truly before it's time. (ex Olivetti Manager).

Serial numbers may also include a letter as well. Here are the TOP FIVE places to locate the serial number of your spinet, console, or upright piano: Serial number locations are found: 1) On the piano's cast iron plate. After lifting up the lid, look along the top front area of the plate. The serial number may be to the right or the left, or in the middle.

When you say. 'It just needs tuning'. This always makes me sceptical & any prospective buyer. The overall value of a piano pretty much hinges on its tone quality, regular tuning visits (every 6 months).

(NB Kallman was also a name used by Godfrey; they are usually poorly made underdampers with a brash tone, and sometimes have “Coster actions” (please enquire for more details). The name Gors and Kallmann has now been bought by a firm from the Far East and we have not yet rated it.

And the piano itself, I couldn’t be more impressed. It’s in fantastic condition, flawlessly regulated and just beautiful. P.S.: Incase anyone’s having any doubts about international shipping, you should have seen the crate they built for me. I suspect it was bulletproof. It is just about a year since we bought our Wendle and Lung 178 grand piano and we can say that every aspect of service from Roberts has been very good. They have met our (high) expectations and been responsive to our needs. Firstly, we are very happy with the piano itself.

To find out how old your piano is, we suggest you contact your local Piano Tuner who would most likely own a Piano Atlas detailing Piano Dates and Serial Numbers from hundreds of Brands. Failing this, there are several online companies that offer a paid service to supply detailed Piano reports including manufacturers History and the Pianos age. Often serial numbers are well hidden or difficult to read, and in some cases completely missing. Even if you find a serial number, many piano manufactures have little or no info available on when pianos were made. If you’d like to find out more about your piano, we recommend contacting your local Piano Tuner and schedule your next Piano Service. An experienced Piano Tuner can provide excellent insights on the pianos age based on various aspects; the type and style of mechanics used, the body shape and design, the condition of the instrument as well as inscriptions and markings found throughout the piano. Yes, but there is no fixed formula that connects the age of your piano with a specific value.

We have a small house and they took the utmost care to not damage our house or the piano, they were friendly and timely. I will be recommending Roberts to all I come across! After visiting several reputable shops in London that seemed too commercial and impersonal – I made my way to Roberts Piano.

If you are expecting a reasonable price for it, and to be sold privately (say), you need to pay a tuner to come out and tune it - regardless of it needing to be tuned again after delivery. It will sell better, and you can show any pros.

Several factors are considered when valuing the monetary worth of a second-hand piano including condition, quality, tone size, brand etc. A clear rule of thumb is simply that “older” does not equate to “more valuable” Because unlike a piece of furniture, a piano is only valued on it’s instrument worth (how does it sound, respond and perform etc) and holds no “antique” value. For this reason it’s considered that generally speaking a newer piano would be in better condition and therefore play better and be worth more than it’s older equivalent.

NB: Baby grands made from about 1910 to 1935 are generally good, but many suffer from an instability in the tenor area, causing the octaves to go out of tune with changes in humidity. The serial number is the determining factor in telling a piano's age. The worth rests on the piano's viability, configuration, and age. Old uprights are generally worth little, especially if they are not serviceable. The furniture value is secondary. If your piano is in perfect condition, inside and out, the value would top out around 200.00, USD. What you have there is a typical upright piano, which more than likely has more furniture value than instrument value.

I was also very impressed that one of them had gone in on his day off yesterday to make sure that I got the piano today! I am over the moon with the instrument. It has stayed well in tune and looks fabulous in my room. I am also pleased with the stool. I am looking forward to many happy years of teaching and performing on such a lovely piano and I am very grateful to you for making it possible. I will, of course, recommend Roberts Pianos to friends and colleagues. With very many thanks and every good wish.

Remove the front of the piano. Remove the middle C key complete from it mounting pin. You may find the production date and its full service history written in pencil on the side of that key.

Thanks very much! PS The chap who reconditioned it several years ago is dropping it off on Sunday, so presumably he should know? There were some G&K numbers like that around the early 1880s, but I can't imagine this one being that old. All I have is some rough estimates for these early numbers, and there seems to be more than one sequence, so some are probably not the true serial numbers. Even stranger things happened to them in the 1930s.

I recently purchased a fine Bechstein Model C semi-concert grand from Roberts Pianos. Blaine and Josh did a first class job delivering and safely installing the piano under somewhat challenging conditions. Marcus subsequently carried out a first complimentary tuning and regulation, and I am now in possession of a marvelous instrument that I will enjoy playing for the rest of my life. I highly recommend Roberts Pianos to all who appreciate good ‘old-fashioned’ service where the needs of the customer come first. Harwood, West Penwith, Cornwall. Just to let you know how thrilled I am with my Yamaha G3E Piano which arrived very promptly this morning. The men who brought it were very efficient and shared in my excitement which made the arrival of the piano even more special!

All staff we have met have been amazing, but, it would be hard to come across another Marcus. I will always remember how he cycled from another shop just to serve us! Later, I took my son’s teacher with us who was treated with great respect and was encouraged to try many pianos. Marcus’ workshop is full of pianos being restored from impressive grands to fantastic uprights. It is worth visiting just to see how the world of pianos works! We loved watching Marcus working on Pianos himself – his impartial advice and service has been exemplary. As a result: my son now owns a Feurich piano that will stay within the family for years to come.
